Anybody care to share their opinions on the Fishpond Open Range Tech Pack?
Thanks
- There are WAY too many things on the front of that for line to catch on. I really do not like layered pockets on the front of me, since I already stick out too far. 2. For $169, I would never even consider buying one. The word “Tech” alone adds $50 to the price. 3. I really don’t like bright orange on me, even (or rather, especially, logos), unless I am trying not to get shot during hunting season.
I have the Gore Range Tech Pack (the slightly smaller version of the Open Range), and really like it. I’m a “kitchen sink” kind of person so the multitude of pockets allow me to take everything I think I need for a day on the water with me. I will note however, that the internal pockets really aren’t much good for anything other than small, thin items. Putting a standard flybox in one of those pockets (though they do fit), just makes the vest too bulky to be worn comfortably.
I will agree with DG in that the zipper pulls on the lower front pockets are line magnets, but after wearing one for a while you get used to it and discover ways to avoid having your line caught on them. Not sure about the orange comment though as the Open Range isn’t available in orange any longer. My Gore Range is orange and it isn’t bright hunters orange but a more subtle dark orange (not quite what used to be called burnt orange).
