Anyone have any experience with Redington’s warranty? I just bought a rod, but it didn’t come with a warranty card as many other companies have. The BPS guy who sold me the rod said it has a warranty, but didn’t have a warranty card, so here’s a couple of questions?
Does it come with a warranty card?
If I’m an idiot and break it in a door, will I be able to replace that part at a minimal cost or would it void my warranty? (On their website it seems to indicate that should that happen, it voids the warranty.)
Has anyone ever had any personal experiences with this?
I had a Red Start 8’6" 5 wt rod that the tip top came loose on. I sent it in and they replaced it without question in a very timely manner. That was when they were still an independent company in Fl though. Don’t know how things go now that Sage owns Redington. I’m sure they are fine since the Sage warranty works pretty well from what I hear.
These are the idle thoughts that posses a man’s mind when he’s not able to fish.
Redington doesn’t seem to send warranty cards. I did send a rod in a year ago following instruction on their web and received aa new tip in a timely manner
I bought a new Redington from a small tackle shop on Cape Cod and same thing- no card. He wrote out a detailed receipt for me so I could use it as proof I bought it new if need be… So I guess its not unusual to not get the card. This was 2 years ago BTW…Good Luck, and watch those car doors…
I broke my Wayfarer five piece last year while steelhead fishing. I never got a warrenty card with it. Just sent it with the required check, a letter explaining what was wrong and they sent back a new rod. Not just a replacement section but a new rod! I was certainly please. I agree with JC they are a good company!

I’ve dealt with them on wader replacement with no problem. Just email the warranty/service dept. The only issue I have is with waders they charge $20 for handling/shipping
When I broke my TFO I sent in the section that broke and they sent me a whole rod. So now I have an extra tip section. Sounds like most companies do the same thing. I almost bought a Reddington, They seemed like great rods to me. How do you like yours?
I own two Redington’s I bought as kits…No probs with breakage…I do not even know if a warranty applies to kit built rods…
my question is in regard to the Redington being owned by Sage comment in a prior post…I thought Orvis bought Redington…or has the company changed hands yet again??..Just curious…
Jargo, I love my Redington…casts like a dream. I had a TFO TICR and even a pro, but the 5 wts just seemed too heavy for me…the rods loaded alright. The Ticr were too stiff for me, but the pros’ just seemed too limp, so I guess I wanted a faster med/fast, that was lighter in weight. For me the Redington is a sweet rod…and about the same price as the TFO Ticr. I would definitely recommend it over the TFO’s because it is lighter, and seems to load a lot better than the TFO’s…personally
When I bought my first Redington rod a few years ago I, too, wondered why there was no warranty card. I called the 1-800 number on the rod tube tag and spoke to a very nice lady. I asked here if I needed to register the rod. Her reply…“No need to register the rod. If it is broken for any reason such as slamming it in a door, falling down, BIG fish or your dog eating it, call us and we will tell you where to send it for repair or replacement”.
Last year I bought a Redington CPS in Connecticut. Sage now owns Redington. I believe the chronology is that Red was bought by Orvis to make a less expensive line for Orvis, was bought back by Redington, was sold to Sage. Sage now has a factory in the Orient strictly to make the CPS, which compares VERY FAVOURABLE with their own XP - just ask the members of ‘my’ casting club. Here is the complete content of my emails with them last year after my purchase.
"Greg:
Thanks for your email and we are glad you enjoy your Redington rod. We are not issuing warranty cards at the moment - we may start issuing them next season - keep the receipt (just in case). If your rod breaks, we will replace it - you would send it directly to us in a tube with your name, address, phone and a brief description of the breakage - also we charge a $20 shipping/handling fee. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

I recently purchased a Redington 7wt 4pc CPS from UpCountry Flyshop in Connecticut. There was no warrantee card with the purchase. I traded in another rod as part of the purchase. Thus the receipt is for less than the list price. Should there be a warrantee card? Do I need the original receipt if I ever return a damaged rod?
I have several rods, 3 of which are 7wt (now 4). The Redington is by far the best and one of my best rods too. Congratulations on a job well done in its creation.
