What a Great Time!

Final Thoughts on the Florida Fish-In.

Wow! What a great group! Friday we had 25 people show up for breakfast and start making new friends and greeting old ones. It amazes me how so many people from different areas and backgrounds can become friends so quickly with the power of one common thread. We all love to fly fish and that's all it takes to get the ball rolling. It was windy and the fish didn't want to cooperate much so we gave up early and went to lunch at the café on Honeymoon Island. I think everyone enjoyed sitting on the deck in the sun looking over the Gulf of Mexico just as much as fishing. I know I did! Later some of us went to my house for some great hair packing instruction from Flatsdude (Gary Henderson), along with a little pirate juice.

Saturday we all split up and headed to different spots, several of the group went kayaking thanks to Gil who brought three even though he couldn't fish or paddle! A few nice fish were caught though wind and water temps were against us again.

By the third day even the cook at the Covered Bridge was having fun!

Someone caught a snook on Sunday but I was busy cooking so no pics! Robert Sutherland showed his off at the fish-fry though.

We all had our fill of fish, ribs, rum, and cigars at the house! Boy can these folks eat! After the eats some went over to the park for some expert casting instruction by Charlie McClain.

Although we didn't break any records with the fishing I think a good time was had by all, and we all made some new connections. I am sure we will see each other again, in other places. I know I'll have to go see what this trout stream fishing I keep hearing of is all about!
