Denny Conrad mentioned this method at the Idaho Fish-In
while discussing using peacock one evening with the
group of tiers there. He said it isn't his, but since
it came from him, I've given him the credit this week.
A fast way of removing the herl from the quill is to melt
simple kitchen parafin in a double boiler then dip each
quill in the melted wax. Lay out on a piece of paper
towel, and when hard, strip everything off in one motion.
According to Denny this method also adds a bit of life
to the quill as well as softening them. ~ DLB
