Simple Ant Pattern

Rick Zieger
By Richard Zieger, Iowa

Ran onto this pattern at the SowBug. It is my kind of fly.

Ingredients:

Hook: Size 16, this is a Mustad 94840.

Thread: Dark.

Body: From non-slip mat.

Legs: Hackle.

Method:

1. Attach thread to hook. Tie body material on.

2. Attach hackle and make one wrap with the feather.

3. Tie off thread.

4. tie them in these 3 colors.

Here is a picture of the material label and then what the material looks like on the roll.

I found the black and tan at Lowes. The red I found at WalMart, but it cost more than the rolls at Lowes.

Cut this material on the diagonal to make the bodies. ~ Rick
