Improved Clinch Knot

By James Castwell

The only difference between the clinch knot and the improved clinch knot is, one will hold a strong fish and the other may not. With that said, most will strongly recommend taking the extra time to 'lock' the end back through the loop before tightening. Simply stated, the improved clinch knot is far superior to the standard clinch on all large and medium flies. I use it down to size eighteen. ~ J. Castwell
