    Cute little fly. I have a small "mouse" pattern that I tie for Bluegill fishing. It's based on the Splinter Mouse pattern. I play around with the tail material, this one happens to have a bit of rubber toy tentacle for a tail. I suspect that this would also work well for Brown Trout or even good sized rainbows.     Thanks for posting this ingenious use of a foam cylinder! It's good to know that fish like it too.
    Where do you get the foam cylinders that you use to tie this fly? What size cylinder did you use for that hopper?

    I used 3/16” cylinders; think they were Wapsi.
