    Default Substitute forfurry Foam

My furry foam has degraded. Is there a substitute for Furry Foam? I want to tie some Bob Clouser Crayfish for smallmouth.

    Bruce,

Vellux, the fabric they make hotel blankets out of, is the same thing as Furry Foam.

Do you now if it degrades like furry foam, Scott? If so, no sense buying an entire blanket.

    Bruce,

Don't know, although since they're basically the same material, I'd expect them to behave similarly.
What kind of degradation are you seeing? I've got a bit of Furry Foam I bought years ago - rarely use the stuff but haven't noticed any structural issues with it.

Was going to offer to send you some, since I don't use it anymore. But after digging it out, I see mine has degraded as well. It's basically delaminated -- the two fuzzy layers have come loose from the inner layer. Wondering if you could repair with some Tear Mender or other adhesive?

Same thing mine has done. You can't pull on it firmly because if come apart.

Same here. I believe furry foam is really blanket pieces. There may be some short blankets in a few motels

Do you guys think chewee skin would be a good substitute? I never had the stuff in my hands, so let me know what you think.

I seem to recall reading somewhere on this or another forum that chewee skin also falls apart over time. I was going to try some till I read that so I never bought any.

Buy a small supply (one sheet) of furry foam in the color you want until someone can suggest a substitute.
